Multi-channel audio support is present on VersaStreamer 4K and EdgeCaster as of V7.8. At a glance, this support is for up to 8 channels of audio over SDI input and up to 6 channels encoded for each audio track on output. Multiple tracks may be added to the resultant encode of a given output.
As of V7.8, Multicast, Unicast, SRT, RTSP, and File Recording all support Multi-channel Audio. HTTP-based outputs do not support multiple audio tracks at this time, but will in a future software version. RTMP as a protocol does not allow for multiple tracks, thus will only allow a single track (Audio profile).
Below is a quick walkthrough of how to use Multi-channel audio on VersaStreamer 4K and EdgeCaster.
Using Multi-channel Audio
The first step is to make sure that SDI and Embedded Audio are selected in the Input Settings menu.
Next, select an Audio Profile that will be used, click the "Advanced" bar below the Audio Bitrate setting, and enable up to 6 channels to include in this track of audio. Repeat this for however many tracks that will be used.
Last, select the output that will be used for streaming with multiple tracks of audio. The example above is using SRT, but this can be done for any of the outputs mentioned above that support multiple tracks. Additional tracks can be added by clicking "+ Add Audio Source". This option will disappear when the number of track slots is equal to the total number of Audio Profiles that have been created. Track slots can be removed by clicking the X to the right of the respective track slot. Select each track that will be used for the stream.
