Videon devices support recording of an encoded stream to either a USB or SD card. Below are steps to help make sure that a recording of a stream goes smoothly.
- Make sure the storage device is formatted to FAT32
- Insert the storage device into the Videon device
- Connect to the Videon device
- Navigate to the File Recording tab in Output Settings
- Verify that the storage device is recognized
- The File Recording section should appear similar to the following if the device is recognized:
- Select the dropdown under Available Storage Devices
- If the storage device is not recognized, try formatting the storage device to FAT32
- If that still does not work, please first try a different storage device, then submit a support ticket letting us know the brand and model number of the storage device that did not work
- The File Recording section should appear similar to the following if the device is recognized:
- Enter the desired file name
- The filename can be customized and will be saved with a timestamp creating a file of the format Filename_YearMonthDate_HoursMinutesSeconds.ts
- Do not use any forward slashes '/'
- Do not put spaces in the name, instead use underscores '_'
- Files are saved as .ts (transport stream) or .mp4, so make sure to use a player that supports the file format or convert the file prior to playback
- Limit Max File Size
- When turned On, recordings will be split into chunks as specified according to this setting (default 2GB chunks)
- When turned Off:
- Internal Storage: recording will continue until either the internal storage is full or until File Recording is turned Off
- External Storage: recording will continue until a maximum of 4GB file size has been reached (FAT32 file format only allows a maximum file size of 4GB, so the video files will be split into a maximum of 4GB chunks) or until File Recording is turned Off
- The filename can be customized and will be saved with a timestamp creating a file of the format Filename_YearMonthDate_HoursMinutesSeconds.ts
- Turn on "Recording", then click Save
- The encoded stream will record as long as this this setting is enabled. Any other outputs can be enabled and disabled independently of File Recording
