Overview
The new Max 2 platform supports dual Ethernet interfaces, allowing you to configure primary and backup network connections for improved reliability. By assigning route weights, you can control which interface is preferred for outbound traffic and ensure automatic failover if the primary connection is lost.
How Route Weight Works
Each Ethernet interface can be assigned a route weight (0–10000):
Higher route weight equals higher priority of the Ethernet interface
The interface with the highest weight is used as the primary connection
If the primary interface goes down (e.g., cable disconnected, network failure), the system will automatically switch to the secondary interface with a lower weight
Configuring Dual Ethernet via LiveEdge Cloud
Log in to LiveEdge Cloud, and navigate to your Max 2 device using the Devices tab or Dashboard
Open CONFIGURATION, then go to Networks in the left panel
You will see current Ethernet interfaces and their current configuration (address assignment and route weight).
Configuring Dual Ethernet via Web UI
Web UI: to see all Ethernet interface configurations together, go to your Max 2’s web UI → Device Settings → System, you will see a page with all interfaces and corresponding configurations. You can adjust static IP address assignments and route weights on this page as well.

Notes
The dual Ethernet configuration feature is only available on Max 2 devices
No additional licensing required for this feature
Before use, please ensure both interfaces are properly configured and connected for seamless failover. Test failover by disconnecting the primary interface to confirm backup behavior
By properly configuring route weights, you can ensure continuous connectivity and minimize downtime in the event of network issues.
