Configuring your AWS MediaConnect account

Publishing an unencrypted SRT stream to MediaConnect

Configuring your AWS MediaConnect account:

1. Navigate to your AWS account and enter the MediaConnect Service.

2. Click "Create flow"
   

   1. Under Details:

      • Enter a Name

      • Set Availability Zone to Any

   2. Under Source:

      • Source type: Select Standard source

      • Enter a Name

      • Set the Protocol to SRT Listener

      • Source description: Enter a description as desired or leave blank

      • Allowlist CIDR block: 0.0.0.0/0

        • !!NOTE: This allows a device with any IP address to publish to this flow!!

      • Inbound port: Choose a port within the allotted Valid range as specified in MediaConnect

        • i.e.,

      • Maximum bitrate: Enter a maximum bitrate (in bps) as desired or leave blank

      • Minimum latency: Enter a minimum latency (in ms) as desired or leave blank

      • Decryption: Disabled

      • Click Create flow
        

   3. Select Outputs
      
      

      1. 1. Click Add output
            
            

         2. Give the output a Name

         3. Set the Output type to Standard output

         4. Set the Protocol to SRT listener

         5. Description: Enter a description as desired or leave blank
         6. Minimum latency: Enter a minimum latency (in ms) as desired or leave blank

         7. Port: Choose a port within the allotted Valid range as specified in MediaConnect

         8. CIDR allow list: 0.0.0.0/0

         9. Encryption: Leave disabled.

         10. Click Add output
             
             

Publishing an unencrypted SRT stream to MediaConnect

1. Navigate to AWS MediaConnect and enter the Flow which you are using
2. Start the Flow in the top-right of your Flow's screen
   
3. Allow some time for the Flow to start and the Status will then show "Active" when it is ready
   

4. Set up the Videon device to stream SRT

   1. Set Call Mode to Caller

   2. Configure the SRT URL

      1. Navigate to the appropriate Flow in MediaConnect and locate the Public Outbound IP address
         

      2. Enter the Public Outbound IP address into the Node / EdgeCaster's SRT output IP address

      3. From the MediaConnect Flow, select Sources and locate the Source port
         
         

      4. Enter the Source port into the Node / EdgeCaster's SRT output Port
         

   3. Enter a Latency greater than the Minimum Latency assigned to the MediaConnect Flow (if assigned)

   4. Enter a Bandwidth

   5. Ensure Encryption is turned OFF

5. Turn the SRT output ON and click Save
   
   
6. Playback can be viewed with any player supporting SRT playback such as VLC Media Player.

7. To configure the playback URL, navigate to the MediaConnect Flow

8. Click Outputs
   
   

9. Determine the Listener address and Port from the desired Output
   
   

10. Playback URL format: srt://Listener_address_IP:Port
