Introduction:
In this article, we will lay out the steps explaining how to change your computer’s network adapter settings so you can connect directly to your Videon device via Ethernet from a laptop. This article intends to spell out the instructions to connect to a device with a static IP assigned to either change the IP address or change to Automatic (DHCP) address assignment. To prep you for the steps below, begin by isolating this machine from your local network to your Videon device. To do so, plug an ethernet cable directly from this machine to your device. Jot down your device’s last known settings, which can be accessed from LiveEdge® Cloud, and begin!

To change the network adapter settings on a Windows 11 machine:
- Navigate to the bottom left of your Windows screen and select Start.
- Select the Settings icon.
- Click on the section titled “Network and Internet”.
- Select ethernet.
- To the right of "IP assignment", click "Edit".
- Take note of the machine's current IP settings so you can return it to this later on.
- Under Edit IP settings, select Manual
- Turn on IPv4
- Enter the IP address settings in the IP address, Subnet prefix length, and Gateway boxes.
- Click Save
Once the laptop's network adapter settings have been changed to the same sub-network:
- Navigate to the IP address of the device in a web browser. This should populate the local web UI.
- Navigate to Device Settings > Address Assignment and select Automatic (DHCP).
- Click save.
- Return your laptop's network adapter to the original IP settings as noted in step 6 above.
- The Videon device is now on DHCP again!
To change the network adapter settings on a Ubuntu machine:
- Select the “Show Applications” icon at the bottom left of your screen.
- Navigate to Settings → Network
- Under wired, select the settings cog
- Take note of the machine's current IP settings so you can return it to this later on.
- Navigate to IPv4 and select the circle beside Manual
- Under Addresses, enter the IP Address Settings in the Address, Netmask, and Gateway boxes.
- Click Apply.
Once the laptop's network adapter settings have been changed to the same sub-network:
- Navigate to the IP address of the device in a web browser. This should populate the local web UI.
- Navigate to Device Settings > Address Assignment and select Automatic (DHCP).
- Click save.
- Return your laptop's network adapter to the original IP settings as noted in step 4 above.
- The Videon device is now on DHCP again!
To change the network adapter settings on a MacOS machine:
- Navigate to Settings
- Select Network ->Apple USB Ethernet
- Take note of the machine's current IP settings so you can return it to this later on
- Click on the details icon to the right of Apple USB Ethernet name
- Select TCP/IP
- To the right of Configure IPv4, select the drop down and click Manually
- Enter your IP Address Settings, Subnet Mask, and Router Boxes
- Click “Ok”
Once the laptop's network adapter settings have been changed to the same sub-network:
- Navigate to the IP address of the device in a web browser. This should populate the local web UI.
- Navigate to Device Settings > Address Assignment and select Automatic (DHCP).
- Click save.
- Return your laptop's network adapter to the original IP settings as noted in step 3 above.
- The Videon device is now on DHCP again!
