As of the LiveEdge Cloud February 2025 release, properly licensed devices allow users to configure device-based alerts, called Device Alerts. Device alerts will be expanded in a future update to include fleet- and org-level configurations of these alerts, deprecating the original Alerts functionality in LiveEdge Cloud. As of the release of Device Alerts, original Alerts will be referred to as Legacy Alerts but function the same as before.
Managing Device Alerts
Creating a device alert
Device Alerts are currently only available on a per-device level, so the instructions below detail how to set up those specifically.
- Navigate to the device's configuration page (videoncloud.com/devices/[device_guid]/config)
- Select the Alerts tab from the Device Configuration options
- Click + Create Alert
- Configure the desired alerts from the available list and click Create Alert and Save
Managing created alerts
Editing Device Alerts
Device alerts can be edited directly in the Device Configuration section under the Alerts tab by clicking the alert to be edited:
Once the configuration is set as desired, click Save
Org Alerts view
Both legacy alerts and Device Alerts will show in the org-level alerts view, as shown below:
Device Alerts can be managed from the org-level Alerts tab with the same functionality that legacy alerts have. Any reconfiguration of Device Alerts must be done as described above.
Notes
Device alerts add new types of alerts as well as customizable thresholds for previously available Legacy Alerts.
The new alert types only available via Device Alerts are as follow:
- High Temperature
- Default behavior: Alerts if System Temperature exceeds 80 degrees C
- High Memory
- Default behavior: Alerts if Memory Utilization exceeds 90%
- High Filesystem Utilization
- Default behavior: Alerts if Filesystem Utilization exceeds 90%
- Undefined Input Video Format
- Default behavior: Alerts if Video Input is either not detected or is detected at an unsupported resolution or format
- Undefined Audio Format
- Default behavior: Alerts if Audio Input is not detected or is detected at an unsupported format
- Output Error
- Default behavior: Alerts if an output is enabled but not in the "RUNNING" state
- Encoder Error
- Default behavior: Alerts if an encoder is enabled, but not in the "RUNNING" state
All Legacy Alert types are available as Device Alerts. Switching from Legacy Alerts to Device Alerts will allow setting configurable thresholds for desired alerts (for example, if a device needs to be monitored for a specific level of memory usage, rather than the pre-defined 90% in Legacy Alerts).
