NOTE: All SCTE-104 implementations must be pre-qualified by the Videon team. Please submit a support ticket here or contact techsupport@videonlabs.com if you wish to pre-qualify your SCTE-104 implementation. Thank you!
As of software version V10.2.0, Videon’s implementation of the SCTE-104 specification is intended to ingest embedded digital markers over SDI and translate them to SCTE-35 markers on the associated output (supported by Multicast, Unicast, SRT, Zixi, and RTSP outputs). The ANSI/SCTE-104 specification defines the protocols necessary for the insertion of digital markers into a stream. Many broadcast use cases require this specification for inserting digital markers for ad insertion.
Videon Device Configuration via local Web UI
First, ensure your device is updated to software version >V10.2.0, and then follow these steps on the local Web UI of the Videon device to ensure the SCTE-104 markers are appropriately translated into SCTE-35 markers into the respective stream. If you only have remote access to the device, the same configurations can be completed via LiveEdge Cloud Control platform. See below.
- Create a SCTE-35 Data Profile/Encoder under Data Profiles by clicking “+ Add Profile”
- Select “SCTE-35” and click “Add”.
- Within the new SCTE-35 Profile/Encoder, under Input Source, click “+ Add Input Source, " select the appropriate SDI input channel, and then click Save.
- Attach the SCTE-35 Data Profile/Encoder to your desired output (SCTE-35 is supported by Multicast, Unicast, SRT, Zixi, and RTSP outputs) under Data Source by clicking “+ Add Data Source” and then click Save.
- With the SCTE-35 Data Profile/Encoder attached to the respective output, when the output is configured, enabled, and successfully streaming, your content delivery network should display the SCTE-104 digital markers embedded over SDI as SCTE-35 markers present on the stream.
Videon Device Configuration via LiveEdge Cloud UI
First, ensure your device is updated to local firmware version >V10.2.0, ensure your Cloud Agent version is >V1.16.3, and then follow these steps on the LiveEdge Cloud UI to ensure the SCTE-104 markers are appropriately translated into SCTE-35 markers into the respective stream.
- Create a SCTE-35 Data Profile/Encoder under Configuration > Encoders and click “+ NEW ENCODER”
- Select Encoder Type: Data Encoder, Data Type: SCTE-35, and name the data profile/encoder if you wish then click CREATE ENCODER.
- Click SAVE
- Click the drop-down arrow to the left of the new SCTE-35 Profile/Encoder, under Input Selection, click the dropdown, select the appropriate SDI input channel (LiveEdge Node can only use one input channel typically named Input Settings as seen below), and then click SAVE.
- Attach the SCTE-35 Data Profile/Encoder to your desired output (SCTE-35 is supported by Multicast, Unicast, SRT, Zixi, and RTSP outputs) under Outputs > Select or create the appropriate output (e.g., SRT) > Data Encoder(s) by selecting the drop-down arrow and clicking your Data Profile/Encoder and then scroll down and click SAVE.
- With the SCTE-35 Data Profile/Encoder attached to the respective output, when the output is configured, enabled, and successfully streaming, your content delivery network should display the SCTE-104 digital markers embedded over SDI as SCTE-35 markers present on the stream.
