Overview
LiveEdge® Scheduler provides a calendar-based interface for scheduling events across devices managed by LiveEdge® Cloud Control. Instead of manually starting and stopping outputs at scheduled times, you can configure events in advance and let the device automatically manage the designated output according to the schedule.
Events can be configured as one-time occurrences or set to recur on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis. You can schedule events days, weeks, or months in advance, making LiveEdge® Scheduler useful for both individual events and recurring production workflows.
This article explains how to create and configure a scheduled event, including start and end times, pre-roll and post-roll, and recurrence. It also explains how to use the test stream functionality and A/V Input Preview features directly from the scheduler to verify an event before it occurs.
LiveEdge® Scheduler will be free for all Videon customers to use and test until October 31, 2026.

Requirements
Before creating a scheduled event, make sure:
On November 1, 2026, Scheduler will become a licensed feature and you will need to ensure you have the appropriate licensing purchased to use this feature.
The device you want to schedule is available in LiveEdge® Cloud Control with at least Cloud Agent V1.37.1 installed.
The device has a designated, pre-configured output available for the scheduled event.
You have access to the LiveEdge® Cloud Control interface and permission to manage the device's schedule.
The device is configured with the source and output settings required for the event.
The device has an available A/V input if you plan to use A/V Input Preview to verify the source.

Create a scheduled event
LiveEdge® Scheduler uses a calendar interface to provide a visual overview of scheduled activity. From the scheduler, you can create a new event and define when it should occur and which device it applies to.
Step 1: Open LiveEdge® Scheduler
Sign in to LiveEdge® Cloud Control.
From a single device or an active fleet, open the Scheduler tab.
Review the calendar to see existing scheduled events.
The calendar provides a centralized view of scheduled activity, allowing you to quickly identify events occurring on a particular day.
Step 2: Create an event
Select the option to create a new event.
Select the device the event should run on.
Enter a name for the event.
Giving events descriptive names makes it easier to identify them when reviewing the calendar later.
Step 3: Configure the event start and end times
Define the event's start time.
Define the event's end time.
For example, you could configure an event to begin at 7:00 PM and end at 8:00 PM.
The event start and end times determine when the scheduled event occurs. The designated output is controlled according to these times and any configured pre-roll or post-roll settings.
Verify: The event displays the intended start and end times before you save it.
Configure pre-roll and post-roll
LiveEdge® Scheduler allows you to configure pre-roll and post-roll intervals for an event. These settings provide additional time around the scheduled event without changing the event's defined start and end times.
Pre-roll
Pre-roll is measured in seconds and determines how long before the scheduled event start time the designated, pre-configured output on the device is enabled.
For example, if an event is scheduled to begin at 7:00 PM and has a 60-second pre-roll, the designated output is enabled at 6:59 PM.
Post-roll
Post-roll is measured in seconds and determines how long the designated output remains active after the scheduled event ends.
For example, if an event ends at 8:00 PM and has a 60-second post-roll, the designated output remains active until 8:01 PM.
Pre-roll and post-roll can be useful when an event requires additional time before or after the scheduled production window, without changing the actual event start and end times.
Configure event recurrence
Events can be configured as either one-time occurrences or recurring events.
LiveEdge® Scheduler supports:
One-time events — Run once at the configured date and time.
Daily events — Repeat at the configured time each day.
Weekly events — Repeat on selected days of the week.
Monthly events — Repeat according to the available monthly recurrence options.
Step 1: Select a recurrence
Open the recurrence settings for the event.
Select the desired recurrence type.
Configure the applicable recurrence options.
Set the appropriate schedule or recurrence period.
Step 2: Save the recurring event
After configuring the recurrence and any other event settings, save the event.
The scheduler adds the event to the calendar according to the configured recurrence.
Recurring events are useful for workflows such as regularly scheduled broadcasts, daily programming, weekly productions, or monthly events that follow a predictable schedule.
Review and manage scheduled events
After saving an event, it appears directly on the LiveEdge® Scheduler calendar.
Select an event from the calendar to review its configuration. Depending on the event and available controls, you can make changes to the scheduled event as needed.
The calendar provides a centralized way to review upcoming activity without having to manually track individual schedules outside of LiveEdge® Cloud Control.
Test an event
LiveEdge® Scheduler provides access to a test stream from within the scheduling workflow.
Before an event occurs, you can use the test stream “ENABLE OUTPUT” functionality to verify that the configured output is working as expected.
Start a test stream
Select the scheduled event from the scheduler.
Open the available event actions.
Select ENABLE OUTPUT.
Verify that the configured output starts as expected.
Testing the stream before a scheduled event can help identify configuration or source issues before the production event begins.
Monitor the A/V Input Preview
The scheduler also provides access to the device's A/V Input Preview.
Use the preview to verify the incoming audio and video associated with the scheduled event.
View the A/V Input Preview
Select the scheduled event.
Open the available monitoring options.
Select A/V Input Preview.
Verify that the expected audio and video are present.
Because the preview is available directly from the scheduler, you can verify the incoming source without leaving the scheduling workflow.

Best practices
Use descriptive event names. Clear names make it easier to identify events when reviewing the calendar.
Configure pre-roll when additional startup time is required. Pre-roll allows the designated output to be enabled before the event's defined start time.
Use post-roll when additional shutdown time is required. Post-roll keeps the designated output active after the event's defined end time.
Review recurring events after creating them. Confirm that the event appears on the calendar as expected and that the recurrence settings match your intended schedule.
Test important events in advance. Use Test Stream to verify the configured output before a production event.
Verify the source before an event. Use A/V Input Preview to confirm that the expected audio and video are available.
