Setting up a new piece of equipment isn't always easy. Here at Videon, we do our best to make our products as intuitive as possible, but we absolutely understand the need for a concrete set of instructions. Below is a list of steps to take that should get you from opening the box to streaming your event or production easily!

*Please note: For solutions containing multiple Videon devices (i.e. LiveEdge 2Go flight packs or LiveEdge Rack), the following process will need to be performed once per device.*

  1. Register your device: https://www.videonlabs.com/product-registration
  2. Set up your Videon hardware
    1. Plug an Ethernet cable into both the Videon device and the local network
    2. Plug the provided power cord into the Videon device and a power outlet
    3. Plug an HDMI or SDI source into the Videon device
       
  3. Connect to your Videon device
    • Make sure your computer is connected to the same network as the Videon device you wish to connect to. We recommend being connected via Ethernet cable for best results.
      1. Install the Discovery Application (click below to download)
        1. Windows Discovery App  (if you are experiencing issues, please be sure Windows is operating on the latest software)
        2. Mac OS Discovery App (if you are experiencing issues, please see this article)
        3. Linux 64-bit Discovery App
      2. Once installed, run the Discovery Application
      3. Click on the IP address for the device you want to connect to (For first-time setup, the name of a device is the Serial Number located on the bottom sticker) and you are now connected to the Videon Web Browser Interface, also known as the Videon Web UI!
    • For LiveEdge® Max only:
      1. Using the front panel screen:
        1. Press any key.
        2. Using the arrow keys on the front panel, scroll down to "Info".
        3. Select the "Info" option using the center button.front panel.jpg
        4. Observe your device's IP address.
      2. Enter the IP of the Videon device into a Chrome browser URL.
      3. You are now connected to the Videon Web Browser Interface, also known as the Videon Web UI! 

  4. Make sure your device has the latest software. Follow the Videon device update instructions

  5. Enroll your device in LiveEdge® Cloud Control. Follow the enable Cloud Control instructions
     
  6. Stream to wherever you want. There are a number of different streaming methods Videon devices support:
    1. First, create any outputs you desire to use: Dynamic Output Configuration 
    2. Online video platform/direct-to-web
      1. RTMP
      2. HLS/DASH (Please see specific HLS/DASH articles within this section)
      3. SRT
    3. Point-to-point
    4. One-to-many over local network
    5. File recording
    6. FTP server upload
